1.5 Billion Roads Launched in Kapchorwa
Kapchorwa District Local Government and National Oil Seed Project (#NOSP) have launched the construction of #Oilseed roads in Chema and Munarya Sub-counties.
The eleven kilometers Oilseed roads will cost One Billion, Five Hundred and Fifty Six Million Uganda shillings (Ug shs 1.556b) for Ngasire - Kuritabelyo road covering 4 (four) kilometers in Munarya sub-county, Chema - Kapkwemoy road covering 4.6 kilometers and Kapkwata road covering 2.4 kilometers.
The function which was led by Resident District Commissioner - Mr Nkugwa Kizito, Hon. Chemutai Phylis - Woman Member of Parliament and Mrs Chebet Evelyn Kubarika - LCV Chairperson took place at Chema center and along Ngasire road in Munarya.
Ugandan Government through the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries is promoting, oil seed production and commercialization, improve livelihood among smallholder farmers and increase exports.
NATO Engineering Co. Ltd was contracted by the Ministry to rehabilitate these 11 kms of community access roads for easy transportation of the harvest.
The Director NATO Mr Twesigye Emmanuel promised to deliver quality work on time. He requested local leaders and communities for cooperation in order to deliver together. Other dignitaries present were the Ag. CAO Kapchorwa Mr Chesang David, DISO, Ag District Engineer, District Production and Marketing Officer, District Procurement Officer, Secretary Works and Technical services, DCDO, Focal Foint Person NOSP, Sub-county Political / Technical / Security teams and the Community.
